Hamsters In The House

The care of all pet hamsters is fundamentally similar, but there are differences in food and shelter needs. The dwarf hamsters are sociable, and it is preferable to have them in cages along with at least one partner of the same gender to avoid problems of loneliness. Golden hamsters, however, are extremely territorial and will fight with any other hamster who lives in the same cage, even to kill each other. Chinese hamsters can be housed in pairs or groups, but require a relatively roomy cage to live peacefully.
